Past, Present and Future Applications of Fluid Bed Technology: the Contributions of David Jones
Atul Mehta (Consultant), Stephen Abele (Quality by Design LLC) & Howard Stamato (BMS)
David M. Jones changed the way in which fluidized beds are utilized in processing pharmaceuticals. Over his 35 year career he developed fluidized bed processes, designed new machines, tested new sensors, and trained a generation of scientists. He published over fifteen articles, five book chapters, and received seven U.S. patents.
Processes such as drying, granulation, layering, and coating were influenced by his work. Three of his contemporaries: Atul Mehta, Stephen Abele, and Howard Stamato will discuss how Dave’s work changed the way that fluidized beds were used, have been expanded by those working in the field now, and will influence the future course of where the technology might develop
